LIVE HEALTHY AND AVOID CARDIAC DISEASE


We present this piece of information to you my beloved reader so that you may take steps to pattern your life style.  It is not all about fat loss, pregnancy solution or cellulite treatment.

We know that cardiac disease remains the #1 killerof the US adult population -- but do you really get what’s happening, why cholesterol might matter, and
how to give yourself the best fighting chance against
the new ‘Bubonic Plague,’ of sorts?

Here are 3 little-known facts about cardiac disease
that will likely change the way you view living ‘healthy’:

  1. Cholesterol is not necessarily bad, not even the “bad” kind.
  2. Heart Rate Recovery (HRR) may be one of the best predictors
    of cardiac disease -- even more important than resting heart rate,
    according to many practicing clinicians and cardiologists that I know.
  3. A low-fat diet may be one of the fastest ways to create cardiac disease (controversial.)
Cholesterol has an evil connotation in health, and is often treated as
a primary instigator of cardiac and vascular disease.  As the son of a
Vascular Surgeon, I recognize the importance of reducing cholesterol
to prevent the advancement of life-threatening disease; however, many
factors need to be considered:
  • How high are your triglycerides?  If your triglycerides are high, your high
    cholesterol could be a symptom of inflammation in your body due to the way
    you’re breaking down carbohydrates, rather than the primary causal issue
    taking place in your body.
  • What is the ratio between your “bad” (LDL) cholesterol and  “good” (HDL) cholesterol?
    If you have less than a 2:1 ratio, meaning that your HDL is relatively high compared
    to your LDL, this can actually be a negative cardiac risk factor.  For example, an
    HDL of over 60 is suggestive that you have a lower risk of cardiac disease -- so long
    as your total cholesterol is not over 180, which is the recommended max level by the

  • What else is in your diet or environment that may be causing inflammation?
    Before you begin taking a pharmaceutical prescription to counteract cholesterol
    in your body, it could be a good idea to have a candid discussion with your physician.
    If you smoke, eat trans fats, lots of preservatives, live in a toxic environment, or are
    chronically stressed, your body could be inflamed for reasons outside of your
    cholesterol intake.  This means that you could be taking a drug to lower your cholesterol,
    which is the only true indicator that you’re doing something else wrong.  When your
    cholesterol numbers improve on the drug, you’re actually masking the true cause of
    health deterioration. 

Next, let’s talk about Heart Rate Recovery (HRR) and its application to
monitoring your health and preventing cardiac disease.  HRR is measured
10 and 60 seconds after you finish exercising, to determine how quickly
your heart can get back to its resting rate.  A healthy heart should be able
to relax by at least 20-30 beats per minute within the first 60 seconds after
exercising and should be within 10-15 beats of your resting heart rate
within the first couple minutes after a workout or intense exercise set. 

If your heart is unable to recover quickly from intense exertion, then the
demands on your body completely change, and so will your exercise outcome:

  1. Hormones will become imbalanced as a result of prolonged sympathetic
    stimulation (fight or flight response not calming quickly enough, causing
    prolonged catecholemine release.)
  2. You may experience a reciprocal blood pressure response, killing your
    following set or energy level to follow a workout.  In other words, if your
    heart rate is higher than your body wants, you’ll automatically lower your
    blood pressure by dilating your arteries, allowing your body to undergo
    less stress; however, your energy level will plummet as a result of this
    response and you’ll instantly feel tired. 
  3. You’ll hit your ‘lactate threshold’ too early, which limits your exercise potential
    and tolerance.  Your lactate threshold is the point at which your body stops
    consuming oxygen for energy and begins to develop lactic acid as a byproduct
    of a different form of an energy cycle.  This lactic acid creates soreness, shuts
    down signals to our muscles, and ends our workouts.  Increasing your lactate
    threshold is paramount to your success in working out, or in achieving better
    health.

Finally, I feel it’s important we discuss an extremely controversial topic:  Low Fat Diets.

I find them to be evil and the wrong idea, altogether -- logically speaking, they don’t
make any sense to me.  Think about it this way -- we have 3 macronutrient groups
in the foods we eat:  carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.  Here’s how this works:
  • In the first 15 minutes we exercise or move, we tend to lean on carbs as our primary energy source. 
  • From 15-40 minutes, we lean mostly on proteins as an energy source.
  • From 40 minutes up until 2-3 hours, fats serve as our primary energy source.
Of course, it’s a continuum, and transfer between macronutrient classes for energy
is relative.  “The wall,” which is commonly referred to in marathon runners is the
point at which you become totally carb depleted, and this tends to take place around
mile 23 in most competitive runners.  If we are not able to transfer our energy
requirements between carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, we can carb deplete much
faster.  It’s “fat” that allows us to balance macronutrient use for much longer, leading
to prolonged energy and a wall happening as far out as possible -- without fats, we
don’t stand a chance. 
A low-fat diet appears to be a healthy option -- with the goal of reducing cholesterol
and blood pressure -- when the body has inflammation, other macronutrients aren’t
properly balanced and sequenced, and exercise isn’t a part of someone’s life.  Sadly,
this is the state of the ‘average’ American and what I believe to be the #1 confounding
variable of all low-fat diet studies; we need to isolate a truly ‘healthy’ person from the
‘average American,’ and then repeat the studies -- those who are unhealthy should
pursue an anti-inflammatory diet for at least 6 weeks before beginning a high fat/low
carb diet -- I’ll bet we get different results. 

I beg of you to consider the natural role of cholesterol in our bodies when inflammation
isn’t present, to utilize HRR as a measure of your level of fitness and health, and high
fat/low carb diets as a possible long-term option once you correct for other variables. 
Your health and vitality depend upon the simple decisions you make today, and the logic
you can apply to all of the health information you’ve learned; I believe you’ll make the
right choice.

 What Is BPA?

 The problem: BPA may be linked to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer. And this is a BIG problem!  In Women And Men , BPA exposure may dramatically LOWER testosterone levels and SPERM count. In fact, a study on Chinese factory workers exposed to high levels of BPA showed a decrease in sperm quality and sperm count. Research by the Canadian Health Ministry showed that 91% of Canadians had increased urinary concentrations of BPA, and levels were HIGHER in children between the ages of 6 and 11.  BPA may be linked to polycystic ovary syndrome, which is associated with lower chance of getting pregnant due to increased testosterone levels. Researchers showed a significant increase in BPA in the urine of women with polycystic ovary syndrome. More research is warranted and the exact reason why BPA is higher is unclear.

BPA CHEMICAL DAMAGE IN FEMALE.


The female body chemistry is one important aspect of life that it must be protected by observing and following certain basic rules in life. So listen to the experts.



 You may have heard about BPA – it’s been in the news a lot lately...for all the wrong reasons.

 This particular toxic chemical is found in polycarbonate plastic – the kind of plastic used to make drinking bottles and food storage containers.

The use of rBGH increases the levels of IGF-1 hormone in the milk by at least 6 fold, increasing risks of various cancers. 




3) GMOs (in most processed foods)

Over 50 countries require labeling of GMO foods, and many of them banned GMOs altogether.

In the US, GMO foods are NOT labeled – even though 91% of the population feels they should be.  And because 85-90% of all soy, corn, canola and sugar (sugar beet) in the US is now GMO, Americans eat their weight in GMO foods each year.

The first-ever lifetime feeding study on the potential health risks of GMOs was published in September 2012. The results of feeding rats GMO corn for two years were very scary:

 · Some rats developed massive tumors that represent 25% of their body weight

 · Liver damage was up to 5 times higher in the GMO group than in the non-GMO group

 · Female rats that ate GMOs had a 3X higher risk of premature death


4) Potassium Bromate (in bread)

Called a cancer threat by the CSPI since 1999, banned from dozens of countries, this ingredient is still used in bread these days.  If you've been following Mike Geary's recommendations to reduce or eliminate bread and other grains in your diet, you're safe from this one.


5) Chloramphenicol (in honey)

This antibiotic used on honey bees has been banned in the US for years, but can still be found in cheap supermarket honey (along with heavy metals) that comes from China.

The concerning thing is that a recent study found that 75% or more of all the honey in the U.S. may be Chinese honey sold as American honey.  In addition, some reports have shown that honey from China could be mixed with cheaper sweeteners such as corn syrup.

Choose local honey or raw honey if you can find it to avoid these issues.

YOU MUST POOP ENOUGH TO BE IN TOP FORM



My beloved Reader,
I promised to bring in a new health topic each time i open my blog site. The topic  we are going to examine now is very unpleasant to talk about.  But because I want to see you look smarter when i am talking with you. We are not selling any product now .  We are talking health!

 


NOW Do You Poop Enough every day of the week or do you do the poor man's style 001,100,010 or 000.  Let me explain this formula.  001 means you do not poop in the morning and afternoon only in the evening.  100 means the opposite of 001, and so on and so forth.  Then 000 means you do not attempt at all. Well i am not qualified to predict what will happen to whoever does 000.

Tidbit #2:  Sugar can make you look OLDER

If you've followed a lot of my articles, you know how evil sugar can be for your body... sugar has addictive properties, feeds tumors, causes diabetes, makes you fat, and even ages you faster.

A study summarized in the Journal of the American Aging Association showed that for every 0.18 gram increase in the subjects blood sugar level per liter of blood, this was associated with a 5 month increase in perceived age by a panel of independent assessors. 

For example, this means that a person with an average blood sugar level 1.8 grams per liter of blood higher than someone else ended up appearing over FOUR years older (50 months) than someone that had the lower blood sugar level on average.

The lesson here is what I've been talking about for years now... focus on keeping your blood sugar levels lower and controlled without large spikes.  This means focusing your meals on healthy fats, proteins, and fiber-rich veggies instead of the typical American meals that are loaded with starchy grains at almost every meal.  Eliminate grains and excess sugars and you'll control your blood sugar levels consistently, appear younger and age SLOWER!

PREVENTION OF KIDNEY STONES


HOW TO PREVENT KIDNEY STONES FROM DEVELOPING IN YOUR BODY.

Kidney stone develops when there is concentration of urine in the bladder which later forms to grow in size as a substance.  They become crystals which are removed from the body by the flow of urine. However, kidney stone can grow in any other part of the urinary track in the body, but usually it starts in the kidney.  You can even find them in the ureter of the bladder.

Common types of kidney stones include Cystine stones.  Calcium stones.  Uric Acid stones.  And Struvite stones.

Please you are advised to consult your doctor to determine the risk factor associated with the different types of kidney stone in your body if you have any.

Medical intervention is the most appropriate step to take when faced with kidney stone problems.  However, you can do the following to prevent it from developing in your body. (a) Limit your salt intake.
          (b) Limit your alcohol guzzling
          (c) Reduce the amount of vitamin C and D supplements.
          (d) Increase your daily water intake to about 13 glasses.
          (e) Your animal protein intake must be checked.
          (f) Oxalate and calcium based foods including yoghurt, ice cream etc. must be
                taken with care.
          (g) Finally, consult your DOCTOR!

What is the secret to a long and healthy life?  It is in the food that we eat.  As you well know, all foods are not created equal.  Choosing and eating the right foods may help increase your life expectancy as well as the quality of your life.

Here are ten of the top power packed foods designed to give you energy, vitality and all around good health!

1. Beans – If they give you gas, take precautions before you eat them.  Soaking them first can help.  Beans of all kinds (kidney, navy, lentils, chickpeas, Northern) are high in protein.  This is plant protein so it contains very little fat, carbs and calories.  If fiber is a problem in your diet, eating a healthy portion of beans each day can keep your digestive system healthy.

2. Oatmeal – Oatmeal is coming into popularity as a food that lowers blood cholesterol.  You can make it yourself with rolled oats or eat the instant kind if you are in a hurry.  Oatmeal is a filling grain that also provides much needed fiber to keep hunger at bay and your blood sugar constant.

3. Fruits – Fruits are filled with antioxidants such as Vitamin C and A.  Antioxidants fight free radical damage in the body and reduce the risk of cancer.  Berries such as blueberries and grapes have the highest amount of antioxidants.  But choose an array of fruits in a wide variety of colors for maximum health.  The antioxidants in fruit boost the immune system to fight the effects of aging in the body.

Allium foods – This class of foods includes garlic, onions, leeks and shallots.  Garlic is known for lowering cholesterol.  Allium vegetables healp guard the body against the risk of cancer and many other ailments.  They also help lower blood pressure and prevent blood clots.  Eating these power packed vegetables in their natural state especially garlic increases their health benefits.

Peppers – Peppers are colorful.  They contain antioxidants like beta-carotene and Vitamin C.  Peppers range from mild and sweet to so hot you’ll be calling the fire department.  All peppers contain a substance called capsaicin.  Capsaicin has the properties of an anti-inflammatory, a pain reliever, lowers cancer risk and heart disease.  They are good in salads, salsa and all sorts of dishes.

Five Easy Toning Exercises you can Do Anywhere

Exercise is an important part of our lives.  Staying in shape is one way to increase your life expectancy.  Weight bearing exercises are important also for increasing muscle mass and bone density as you age.

Most of us have learned what to do when it comes to exercising.  The problem is where and when to get the job done.  With a busy lifestyle, making time for exercise is a challenge.

Weight bearing exercises aren’t just for body builders.  As you age, especially once you hit the age of forty, you begin to lose muscle mass.  For women especially, bone loss becomes a problem.  When the body is in need of calcium it can rob it from your bones.  Building muscle not only increases their mass but your strength.

Here are five easy toning exercises that can be done anywhere and whenever you have time.  At home, at the office, or on vacation, you can do these easy yet extremely effective exercises.


1. The Bridge Butt Lift – Sounds like a plastic surgery technique but it is an easy way to tone your buttocks.  Lay down with feet flat on the floor, legs shoulder width apart.  Place your hands, palm side down, on either side of your body.  Pushing with your feet, squeeze your gluteal muscles and lift your butt off the floor.  Hold the position for a count of five to ten and release down to the floor. 2. Squats – Squats work the butt, the hamstring muscles and the quadriceps.  If you aren’t sure of proper form, you can use a chair.  Stand with feet shoulder width apart and feet firmly planted.  Push your butt back as if you were preparing to sit in a chair.  Keep your abs tight and your upper body straight.  Once you reach chair level stop and hold the position for a count of two to five and release.  At the lowest point, place all of your weight on your heels for balance and maximum toning.

3. Reverse Lunges – Lunges work the quadriceps muscles.  They can be hard for people with knee problems.  A reverse lunge still tones the right muscle groups but with less pressure on the knee.  Stand with feet together and arms at your sides.  Take one leg and move it backwards until you are in lunge position: front leg bent at a 90 degree angle and back leg extended until you are on the ball of your foot.  From this position lower yourself down until the back knee almost touches the floor.  Hold for a count of two and return to starting position.

4. Pushups – This is a classic toning exercise that works all areas of the arms plus the chest muscles.  If you aren’t comfortable or strong enough to perform a pushup on your toes, lower your body to your knees.  Be sure your arms are tucked into the body and your back straight as you lower and lift your body.

5. Crunches – Abdominal muscles can be worked every day to build strength and muscle tone.  Lying on the floor in sit up position, lace your fingers behind your head.  Squeezing your abdominal muscles, lift your upper body until your lower back is about to come off the floor.  Hold for two to five counts and return to starting position.
